Democrats are getting increasing worried that the Republicans will not be able (again) to find an electable and credible candidate for the Office of President/Vice President. While many Democratic strategists are gloating, many ordinary liberals are concerned that independents, who usually determine the outcome of a Presidential election, will not even bother to vote, if the Republicans cannot produce internal leadership.

Hard core lefties, are very amused at watching the GOP, self-destruct, but it is becoming very frightening to true believers in the Democratic process. Republicans are bloating with bigots, racists, talk-show hosts, bobble-heads, and the truly mis-informed. It is highly unlikely, that a Republican Presidential Candidate would have an original thought left, after going through the Mind Numbing Right Wing Reprogramming Day Camp.

The actual best candidates for the Republicans, are both Mormons: Governor Mitt Romney and Ambassador John Huntsman. Both are certainly fine men, and have great proven leadership abilities. Neither have the usual sex crimes, scandals, nor closet skeletons, but they are Mormons: an internal bigot "pill" that the Party of Hate, just cannot stomach.

As badly as the GOP needs to shake off their KKK and smear-the-queer image, they just can't do it. We are talking here about "True Colors" While most Republicans think of themselves as True Red White and Blue, Constitution Followers, steadfast Sunday Goers, their own PRIDE will never allow them to be FREE practitioners of justice and equality.

The more the birther 'issue' SHOULD be a non-issue,the more it becomes and issue. It's been 4 years now,2 campaigning and 2 in Office, yet still...Also,since the half/black,half/(anything)crap started,I have also posted about their 'true colors' coming out. They must hate that reference, just from the word itself.2012 I would be surprised if they win anything. If they do win POTUS...come on 12/21/2012 don't fail me now, really need you, before the swearing in.Please,please,please.For those of us who end up in Hell,if you see 5 or 6 BIG women in a corner and a familiar but muffled female whiny voice eminating from there, please do not help her.

Apparently all that matters is when Congress took both Houses in '06,and nothing more. All of a sudden our problems started then, appeared out of thin air,and the previous admin. had nothing to do with it.Anyone born before '06 doesn't exist either?

James, I don't have flash player here, but I did like his comments on the View. I have also given much consideration to several of his Conspiacy Theories. I think he has the experience and abeit a little off beat perhaps but never the less a very bright man.

Dee,the simple fact that he was a Navy Seal and a governor, yet was denied access to anyone/anything on his show should be AT LEAST eye-opening to many. When I first saw him being a wrestler running for governor and winning,it was quite strange. Then when I saw more about his background,I definitely would have supported him also.Since we are not in MN,all we heard was a pro wrestler was running for office over and over(not surprising),but nothing about his TRUE credentials.

the only person worth a damn and isnt the same ol same ol status quo on the republican side is Ron Paul.

he has won the last two cpac's and is the only one in a hypothetical poll even comes close to obama......a tie actually.

but the republicans and democrats dont want him as he is not the status quo of the demopubs..

so it really doesnt matter......but in regards to your poll...dont think that americans will accept a mormon...but I could be wrong.

Actually we do not need any parties any longer. Parties now run our country. The Republican party is so full of greedy men without one drop of integrity that it is trying to destroy our country. I am sick of the Republicans. I am sick of parties. Ideology must change and evolve with time. Trying to partition the people into Dems or Repubs is so ridiculous, sometimes I cannot believe man has survived this far. Democracy is of the people, not of the parties. We don't need two parties to balance each other. It sort of works when there are people of integrity on both sides, but when one side is weighted down with charltans, thieves and fascists it is rather hard to function. Just like they stopped democracy from functioning in Germany with the same tactics the right use now and both wanted fascism, Hitler made it happen. Anyone really want that to happen here? Right now there is no Republican party. It is the corporate fascist party. And so we need to take it down and say no more.

        landspirit,

I partially agree with your sentiment about the republican party but in many ways the democrats are also to blame. What is needed is elected officials that work for the people and not for lobbyists, corporations, or oil companies.

As to whether the country could elect a Mormon president they would have to tell their opinion about this from Wikipedia:

A church lesson manual for adolescent boys that is in use in 2011 contains a 1976 quote from Spencer W. Kimball that says "We recommend that people marry those who are of the same racial background generally, and of somewhat the same economic and social and educational background (some of those are not an absolute necessity, but preferred), and above all, the same religious background, without question".

And for those who don't like or believe Wiki:

        oh and ds12.

romney could just excuse the racism in his religioin in the same way obama played off going to a racist church for 20 years.....the truth is something to be manipulated by the elite and we follow right along in line without questioning.

its quite pathetic in my opinion....hopefully we wake up before its too late.

        hope you enjoy the video.

LOL james the question would still be asked and being a republican he would deflect the question. The right wing will come to his aid rehash Rev Wright and repeatedly repeat the story until those that watch Fox consider it a non-issue.

You are right hopefully we will wake up and see what D's and R's are doing.

Watch the video...he has said the same thing before but to run with Ron Paul would be the same thing as running with a republican which is not who Jesse is.

well considering the republicans hate ron paul....it would not be genuine to call ron paul a repub and you know it...and so does jesse and that is why he said he would do it...he just has a problem with putting an R after his name.

my point is this...if a libertarian remains a libertarian and puts an R after his name is he no longer a Libertarian??

I think you know the answer to that and so does jesse.

we need both of these men more than we know......I have progressive friends who are starting to see the truth...and actually have told me if ron paul wins and went up against obama they would vote for ron paul.

and personally I think democrats should register as republicans and vote for ron paul.....that would shake things up in this country.

but our system makes it nearly impossible for a third party to win...each state is different in what it allows on the ballot and who you can vote for....in my state for instance you can only vote for the party you are registered as.

so their stance on gay rights....prostitution, drugs is right wing???

              lmao ok.

              keep with that one.

libertarians are more left wing than the left wing and more right wing than the right wing.

              pretty much sums us up.

Folks, the Republican nominee for president next year is going to be Donald Trump. I'm not saying that because I 100% like the idea, but because Trump has sized up the situation so well and he understands exactly how to close this deal now that he is off to a strong start.

Many conservatives are wary of Trump because of his history of supporting Democrats with major donations and saying some pretty mean things about President George W. Bush and others in the party. Many right-wingers are wary because they know the whole birther thing is a losing issue and they don't understand why Trump is doing it.

None of that matters. Trump is going to be a conservative this week and he is going to win the nomination because, as he makes perfectly clear, if the Republicans do not make him our presidential candidate he will run as an independent and Obama will win. Ron Paul hints at somewhat they same strategy but Trump does it better because Donald could buy and sell Ron Paul about 500 times and money matter in all politics, but especially fringe politics.

Even Democrats don't understand why Trump plays up the birther thing, because they all think that he would be quite a formidable candidate if it were not for that crazy Achilles heel that nobody with conventional left wing wisdom thinks makes him anything but a kook.

No one understands that all Trump is trying to do with the birther issue is to force Barack Obama to do something that Barack really does not want to do, and that is release the long form birth certificate. Trump probably doesn't even care if there is absolutely nothing on the long form that matters a hill of beans, all Trump knows is that Obama really doesn't want to show it.

What is Trump's actual goal? To be seen forcing the president of the United States to do something that he didn't want to do. Donald Trump wants everyone in America to know that Obama did not want to show that long form, but Trump made him do it. The American people have to think, gee, maybe this is the guy to deal with the Chinese--he can make a stubborn mule like Obama cave in, maybe he can do the real miracles we so desperately need in our times.

As much as mainstream Republicans may not want to think it is all over, the nomination is all over. For the next month Trump is going to flat out attack Obama on every issue, challenge every decision the president has made, and generally shine a strong light in a lot of dark places. Trump can grandstand shamelessly, chase every rumor, and in general espouse at every opportunity the model of a strong personality taking strong, decisive actions and totally eschewing weasel language.

Love him or hate him, Donald will suck the air out of the room for all other candidates, and eventually, from the Obama administration itself.

Barack's best chance for winning a second term is to have some type of emergency come up where he can act decisively and not appear the least wishy washy or in over his head. The chances of a crisis tailor made for Obama to shine like that, and then him actually pulling it off, well who knows what are the realistic chances of that?

A more interesting question is whom the Donald will choose for Veep running mate. I think it might be a strong, attractive, quite conservative woman, if only for the reason that a qualified conservative man brave enough to sign on to this loopy Trump rocket ride may be hard to find. They will be too busy worrying about their future if the Trump presidential rocket turns into a fizzle or a disastrous blow up.

But women are brave, particularly conservative women. A female will get on the narrow back seat of a 180 mph motorcycle behind a half-drunk ego maniac, wrap her arms around him, put her face on his shoulder and hang on for life.

Interesting comment. Trump is even perplexing the analysts. After the McCain debacle, Trump may have some appeal, electable--don't really think so, unless he has something on Obama. He is puzzling in his approach; he is either very dumb or even smarter than I thought.

Obama is going to have to do a lot more than appear to be a hero in an emergency. He will have to come up with a feasible idea how to correct the incredible economy mess and not only sell it but implement it in the next few months. Not likely though unless he insists on taking away a few silver spoons out of the mouths of the wealthy.

I fear you are both wrong.

I think he will be re elected unless something majorily bad happens.

Jessie Ventura would be a perfect partner for Trump, he not only has his experience as Governor of MN, but also, he is great at investigating flaws in the government. Ventura can help Trump prioritize and effect real change for the country, not just ("yes we can") advertising. Not to mention the duo would be more effective than both of their reality shows.

I am an older codger, probably. Any really intelligent person will not want to be sitting with their family in the White House for at least the next decade or so, but certainly not until 12-21-2012 is far, far in the rearview mirror. Too many apocalyptic catastrophes looming out there, especially a budget crisis leading to runaway inflation.

I forget if this is really a Casey Stengel story or not, because things said by other baseball managers tend to get attributed to him over time, but once during an important game his second baseman made two egregious errors in a row. Casey benched him, but the replacement at second base promptly made an error, allowing the opposing team to go ahead several runs.

Casey looked at the original second baseman who was sitting by him getting chewed out and proclaimed, "See, you've got that position so screwed up no one can play it!"
