Is It Over?

Here it is, the 10th Anniversary of 9/11.  Lots of remembering, and lots of tears.  Memorials, and new memorials to those that fell and those, whose wounds will never heal.  It is sad, and America lost part of itself in the dust and the ashes.

Somehow, surreal, the images we hate to see, but have to.  We would like to forget, but that is impossible.  We like to think that somehow we are better, or we learned something, profound, but that is no solace, at all.

Two Wars, and Osama Bin Laden, laying forever at the bottom of the Sea.  We got revenge, and people ran through the streets in jubilation, but that was not: who we were, before.

So, who are we, now?  Angry, oh yes, still very angry.  Poorer, oh my, yes.  Braver, can we even answer that.  Two arrows in the heart, one arrow in the foundation of our soul.  Trillions, and trillions, have bought us, what?  Time?

So is it, over?

I don't think it ever will be over. Not for those that lost loved ones in the Towers, not for those that lost loved one who tried their best to save others. Or the families of those on flight 93, that lost their lives, but saved others.

It won't be over for those men and women who were sent to fight a war. No, it won't be over...not as long as there is a birthday, holiday, a family get together...these people will always be loved and missed.

For the rest of us....I don't know.
